Real fuel consumption and economy logo

Most fuel efficient pickup trucks

We calculate fuel efficiency by taking into account engine capacity and power, and comparing advertised and real fuel consumption of a specific car with cars of similar capacity and power. So the most fuel efficient car is not the one with the lowest fuel consumption, but the one that uses the least fuel to deliver the same performance. Using this approach, the most fuel efficient pickup trucks are Mitsubishi L 200, Isuzu D-Max 2012, Ford Ranger 2015 and Toyota Hilux 2015.
In absolute terms, the pickup truck with the lowest advertised fuel consumption is Nissan Navara 2015, although users report that actual consumption is on average 43% higher. The modification with lowest real fuel consumption by user reports (29.4 MPG or 8.0 l/100km) has Mitsubishi L 200 2006.

This comparison does not include hybrid vehicles. The fuel consumption figures shown are the advertised figures, click on the vehicle names to see the real fuel consumption for all the modifications.

1 Mitsubishi L 200 154 to 181 HP 7.1 to 7.5 l/100km
2 Isuzu D-Max 2012 163 to 163 HP 7.3 to 8.4 l/100km
3 Ford Ranger 2015 130 to 200 HP 6.9 to 8.9 l/100km
4 Toyota Hilux 2015 150 to 177 HP 7 to 8 l/100km
5 Nissan Navara 160 to 190 HP 6.4 to 7 l/100km
6 Ford Ranger 2006, 2012 143 to 207 HP 8.9 to 10.4 l/100km

User-reported fuel consumption may not accurately represent all users' experiences due to variables such as driving conditions, driving style, technical condition of the vehicle, and other circumstances. Thus, it should not be relied upon as a representative indicator.
