Mazda 626 fuel consumption

Of all Mazda 626 modifications produced from 1988 to 2002 real fuel consumption according to user ratings is approximately 5% higher compared to advertised consumption. For petrol engines real consumption is in average 6% higher, but for diesel engines is approximately 4% higher. Starting from 1990 Mazda 626 average difference between actual owner-reported fuel consumption and stated consumption was slightly above industry average, at 1992 it was less than industry average, at 1995 difference became significantly higher than average and finally at 2001 difference between owner-reported and advertised fuel economy became less than industry average.
